An estimated 250,000 Americans received plastic surgery and dental treatments abroad last year. The majority visited mainland South America, with Argentine, Bolivia and Brazil the most popular destinations. [...] An oral examination and consultation, which can cost up to 80$ in US, is free in Bolivia. The average price of a single tooth extraction at a private clinic in the US is 140$. The same operation costs about 70$ in Argentine and Brazil and as little as 50$ in Bolivia. The average price of root canal treatment on two canals at a private clinic in the US is 300$. The operation can be done for 130$ in Argentine , and 110 in Bolivia. On expensive treatments such as dental implants, the savings are even greater. The Branemark system of dental implants – the most expensive implant system – costs an average of 4000$ in the US. It costs 1000$ in Bolivia! [...] [...] In Argentine, Bolivia, and Brazil, dentists with international reputations are offering bargains. A full denture costs 400$ in Argentine and 300$ in Bolivia, but will set you back a minimum of 2500$ at a US clinic.
